An incident of Quran Burning

An anti-Muslim demonstrator set Quran burning, sparking fights in an immigrant neighborhood in Sweden’s third-largest city. According to the police on Monday, Malmo police called the Sunday-night events “a riot” and claimed they were stoned and that many cars, including one in an underground garage, were set on fire.

Salwan Momika, an anti-Islam activist, burnt a copy of the Quran on Sunday. An outraged mob rushed to stop him as the police detained at least three individuals. This is when the confrontations broke out.

In Malmo’s Rosengard neighborhood, which has previously experienced similar skirmishes. An enraged crowd of mostly young people early on Monday also set fire to tires and other rubbish. Others were observed burning electric scooters, bicycles, and fences. Monika, an Iraqi immigrant, has desecrated the Quran in many anti-Islamic demonstrations over the past few months, infuriating many Muslim nations. As justification, Sweden cites freedom of speech.

Public Remarks

Petra Stenkula, a senior police officer, said: “I understand that a public gathering like this evokes strong emotions, but we cannot tolerate disturbances and violent expressions like those we saw on Sunday afternoon.”

The woman remarked that it is quite unfortunate to witness violence and damage in Rosengard again.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated at a news conference, “I think that all Swedes find this completely unacceptable.” “Regardless of the reason behind these riots, the car fires, the harassment, violence against police officers,… regardless of the reason, I think that all Swedes find this completely unacceptable,” Kristersson said.

Sweden allows Quran burnings in blasphemy laws.

The government of Sweden has stated that it has no plans to reinstate the country’s previous blasphemy laws, which were abolished in the 1970s.

Intense protests in Muslim nations, assaults on Swedish diplomatic offices. Threats from Islamic extremists have all been provoked by the Quran burnings. Swedish Muslim leaders have urged the government to take action to end the burning of the Quran.

However, the administration has stated that it is considering allowing police to deny protest permits due to national security concerns.
